What's new with Saturday Hoops NYC

May 17, 2026

No more upsells for Supporters

A small tweak to the Account page: the "Buy a credit pack" CTA no longer shows up for active Supporters — they already get the $15 member rate per game and shouldn't be buying non-member credits at $17 apiece. Credit balance still renders for everyone.

Your Account, In One Place

A new Account page (avatar menu → Account) brings your subscription, credit balance, and full purchase history into one view. Become a Supporter or manage an existing subscription with a single click — manage runs through the Stripe Customer Portal. The activity ledger shows every purchase, credit-funded game, early-bird bonus, and referral credit, with the dollar amount on each paid row. Top nav got a refresh too: avatar dropdown on desktop (Profile / Account / Sign out), mobile drawer regrouped. The game detail roster heading now shows the waitlist count, and the dashboard leaderboard renders instantly with the rest of the shell. Players who can't reach their highlights — credits run out, sub lapses, or single-game window closes — see a paywall card with a looping clip and a direct Become a Supporter button across dashboard, profile, and game detail. Single-game players now get 7 days of highlight access (down from 30) to match how people actually watch.

Faster Pages & Better Dates

The games page now arrives with content already loaded, no skeleton flash. Leaderboard tabs switch instantly with consistent heights so the list below stops jumping. Game cards show the right ET day from the first paint — no more late-evening games briefly displaying tomorrow before correcting themselves. Plus a snappier Stripe checkout redirect, a Next.js 15 + React 19 stack upgrade, and a dashboard hydration fix.

Release Your Spot

Self-serve cancellations: drop your spot from the game card and the waitlist gets emailed instantly. If someone takes it, you get credited; if nobody does, your spot is gone. Supporters releasing 48+ hours out are credited immediately either way. Full games now show Join Waitlist instead of dead-ending at "Full," and a Take spot back link reverses a release as long as nobody else has grabbed it. Refund policy in the Terms updated to match.

Rich Social Cards Everywhere

Every shareable page now has a custom Open Graph card — homepage with the next three game dates, game detail with the date and signup state, player profiles with avatars and stats, leaderboard with the top three, pricing with the three tiers, and a quiet memorial card for Nico. Plus brand polish: Saturday Hoops NYC everywhere, page-title separator standardized on a middle dot, and the leaderboard page is now publicly accessible.

Faster Pages & Smarter Game URLs

Leaderboards arrive with the standings already filled in (and refresh the moment new data lands). Game pages shaved a database round-trip. Game URLs now point at exactly one game in NY time — no more sibling-day collisions, no more phantom upcoming-game pages on random dates. Admin picked up a Refresh leaderboards button for the weekly batch dump.

One-Tap Clip Sharing & Faster Avatars

Every highlight clip now has a Share button in the player. Pick from a quick unedited grab, a vertical 9:16 crop with a pan slider, or a vertical view framed with branded blue rails and a zoom slider — all watermarked. Mobile hands the file straight to your share sheet (Instagram, TikTok, Messages, AirDrop, camera roll); desktop downloads it. Plus faster avatars across the games list and detail pages.

Night-Before Teams, a Playbook, and Expanded Profiles

Teams auto-assign the night before each game — you'll get an email with your color (Black, White, or Blue) and your roster, and the game detail page shows three bordered team cards. A new /playbook page covers on-court rules and off-court community standards. Profiles pick up pronouns, an Instagram handle, and a private gender field used only to help balance teams. Privacy and Terms updated to match.

Player Cards, Public Profiles & Smoother Sign-Ups

New profile editor and public player pages at /user/<username> with a trading-card hero, highlight reel, and past-games ribbon. 5-packs bought from a game page auto-register you for the game. A first-run video tutorial covers hearts, stars, and hotkeys, the waiver hands you straight to Stripe, pricing is fully clickable, and clips sort by most-liked first.

Past Games, Seasonal Leaderboards & Avatar Polish

Past game pages render server-side, leaderboards default to the active season, recruiting follows actual attendance, and every avatar falls back to the player’s email initial.

April 13, 2026

Highlight Reactions & Dashboard Video

Like other players’ clips, bookmark your own with stars, and open the dashboard to a playable reel of your last game. Games now stay current for three hours past tip-off.

Auth, Design System, Analytics & Cleanup

Custom domain sign-in, shared Avatar and SectionLabel components, Vercel analytics events, email dark mode fixes, and ShipFast boilerplate removal.
